Description
Snakes and Ladders is a classic children's board game for two or more players. It's a game of pure luck with no strategy or choices involved. Players take turns rolling a single die and move their token forward that number of squares on the board. The board has a grid of 100 squares, numbered from 1 at the bottom to 100 at the top. The special elements are the ladders and the snakes. If you land exactly at the base of a ladder, you instantly climb it to a square much higher up, which helps you. If you land exactly on the head of a snake, you must slide all the way down to its tail, which sets you back. The first player to reach exactly the 100th square wins the game. The game is very old, originating in ancient India (where it was known as Moksha Patam), and was meant to teach a moral lesson about virtues (ladders) and vices (snakes). Today, it's a simple, family-friendly game used to teach young children how to count, take turns, and handle the ups and downs of luck. You can play it with a physical board or as a digital game on phones and computers.
